AG Paxton’s Child Exploitation Unit Arrests Williamson County Man for Possession of Child Pornography

AUSTIN, TX  –  Attorney General Ken Paxton today announced that the Child Exploitation Unit of his office arrested 44-year-old James Scott Scruggs, of Leander, Texas, on three counts of possession of child pornography, a third-degree felony.

A CyberTipline report from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children® (NCMEC) alerted the Child Exploitation Unit to Scruggs, who was reportedly uploading child pornography to a social media account.

While executing a search warrant at Scruggs’ home, investigators from the Child Exploitation Unit found photos and videos of child pornography on his cell phone. The Office of the Attorney General’s Digital Forensics Unit seized several digital storage devices for examination.

During an interview, Scruggs admitted to investigators that he downloaded, viewed and uploaded files of child pornography.

Attorney General Paxton’s office works to protect children by using the latest technology to track down some of the most profoundly evil predators online.

Since its inception, the Child Exploitation Unit has made 322 arrests and obtained 567 convictions for possession of child pornography.

Attorney General Paxton urges all parents and teachers to become aware of the risks children face on the internet and take steps to help ensure their safety.

AG Paxton’s Child Exploitation Unit Arrests Lampasas County Man for Possession of Child Pornography

AUSTIN, TX  –  Attorney General Ken Paxton today announced that the Child Exploitation Unit (CEU) of his office arrested 53-year-old John Walter Sickles, of Kempner, Texas, on one count of possession of child pornography, a third-degree felony.

A CyberTipline report from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children® (NCMEC) identified a file of child pornography uploaded on social media and led CEU investigators to Sickles.

During the execution of a search warrant at his home, investigators seized multiple digital storage devices, which will be examined by the Digital Forensics Unit of the attorney general’s office.

Lampasas County Sheriff’s Office deputies, who assisted with the execution of the search warrant, are also conducting a narcotics investigation after discovering substances believed to be methamphetamine in Sickles’ residence.

Attorney General Paxton’s office works to protect children by using the latest technology to track down some of the most profoundly evil predators online.

AG Paxton’s Child Exploitation Unit Arrests
San Patricio County Man for Possession of
Child Pornography

AUSTIN, TX  –  Attorney General Ken Paxton today announced that the Child Exploitation Unit (CEU) of his office arrested 19-year-old Benito Juarez, of Gregory, Texas, on two counts of possession of child pornography, a third-degree felony.

Investigators from the attorney general’s office were alerted to Juarez by the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children® (NCMEC), which received multiple tips that Juarez uploaded child pornography to an online account.

During the execution of a search warrant of his home, investigators found files of child pornography on Juarez’s cell phone, including an image of a female child victim. He admitted to investigators that he downloaded, possessed and viewed child pornography.

AUSTIN, TX  –  Attorney General Ken Paxton today announced that the Child Exploitation Unit (CEU) of his office arrested 24-year-old Juan Salazar, of Beeville, Texas, for online solicitation of a minor, a second-degree felony.

The case was referred to Attorney General Paxton’s office by authorities in New Hampshire, who had information that Salazar solicited nude photos from a 12-year-old girl living there.

CEU investigators obtained a search warrant for Salazar’s home in Beeville for Online Solicitation of a Minor and Possession of Child Pornography.

Investigators confiscated numerous digital storage devices for examination by the Digital Forensics Unit of the attorney general’s office.  During an interview, Salazar, who works as a local pizza delivery driver, admitted communicating in a sexual manner with several child victims.

Following his arrest, Salazar was taken to the Bee County Jail without incident.  He is scheduled to appear before a magistrate today.

AG Paxton’s Child Exploitation Unit Arrests Sabine County Man for Promotion of
Child Pornography

AUSTIN, TX  –  Attorney General Ken Paxton today announced that the Child Exploitation Unit (CEU) of his office arrested 60-year-old John Max Walter, of Hemphill, Texas, on one count of promotion of child pornography, a second-degree felony.

A tip from a social media networking site to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children® (NCMEC) led CEU investigators to Walter, a former volunteer firefighter for the city of Hemphill.

During an interview, Walter admitted he uploaded an image of child pornography to his social media account and sent it to another user.  A search of his home turned up digital devices that were taken for examination by the Digital Forensics Unit of the attorney general’s office.
